BY GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Company Demonstrates its Core Philosophy
 Through Habitat for Humanity Project

Every November since 1995, Abood & Associates, Inc. employees trade their briefcases for hammers and nails when they join Habitat for Humanity to build new houses in Little Haiti and Liberty City.

Abood & Associates’ annual service project reinforces the company’s belief that businesses – particularly those in the booming real estate industry – have an obligation to give back to the community.

“We have built our company through dedication and hard work and have been rewarded for our efforts, which is why it is so important to pause and give thanks,” said Donna Abood, president of the company she founded in 1989. “And because we earn our livelihood in real estate, we have a very real and powerful connection to the earth.” 

Abood’s commitment to the community extends beyond the Habitat for Humanity project. She served on the board of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables for six years and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and the Beacon Council, for which she recently made a three-year $30,000 pledge toward its new advertising and marketing initiative. She is a former board chairman of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the recipient of the 1993 Small Business of the Year Impact Award, which recognizes outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, community service and ethics.
